Article #1 – ABOUT BUSINESS CARDS

16 11 2009

Here’s the best practises for making your next business card.

1. A good business card starts a conversation.
A sure way to create conversation, make your card feel different. Example: rubbery material

2. Make sure your card can be scanned.

3. Don’t make non-standard sizes or shapes.
Why? They don’t fit into binders/cardholders.

4. Make sure the basics are on the card.
Your name, title, company, address, phone, fax, email, URL and logo.

5. Include a line about your business.
Why? Your card will tell me your business and what you do, even years
later past our business meeting.

6. Break the rules, particularly corporate ones (but don’t get fired).
Get the conversation started with an unusually unique design.

7. Be different
Put your picture on your business card…why? …. it will help the cardholder, remember you. It will stand out when flipping through card holders.

8. If you do business in two countries, include both languages.

9. If you don’t put anything on your card other than your name, make sure you can be found on google, msn and yahoo. This kind of card is very interesting, breaks the rules and is a “conversation starter”.

Keep your eye out for that perfect appealing business card and ask yourself why?
